A decade of fighting for
better mortgages
Fairbanks Financial was born from frustration with an industry that too often put lender relationships before client outcomes. Our founder James Fairbanks spent a decade inside major banks watching qualified borrowers pay more than they should — simply because they didn't know what better looked like.
We exist to fix that. Our brokers hold an average of 11 years of industry experience. We don't clip tickets — we build long-term relationships, call you at refinance time, and celebrate when you pay off your loan.
Today, Fairbanks Financial is one of Australia's most trusted mortgage brokerages, accredited with 95+ lenders and operating from Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

James Fairbanks, after 10 years in commercial banking, founded Fairbanks Financial with a single conviction: Australians deserve a broker who genuinely fights for them.
Word-of-mouth grew quickly. With a relentless focus on communication and results, we hit 500 settled loans and expanded our lender panel to 40+ institutions.
Opened satellite offices in Sydney and Melbourne. Our digital-first approach allowed us to serve clients across all states without compromising on personalised service.
Launched Australia's first AI-powered mortgage health dashboard, giving clients real-time rate alerts, equity tracking, and a direct line to their broker.
Named Mortgage Broker of the Year at the Australian Mortgage Awards for the second consecutive year, and passed $3 billion in total settled loans.
We're a team of 38 dedicated professionals serving 12,000+ clients, with $4.2B+ in settled loans and an unwavering commitment to making homeownership more achievable.

Our Best Interests Duty
As a licensed credit representative, Fairbanks Financial Group is bound by the Best Interests Duty under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (NCCP Act). This is not a marketing promise — it is a legal obligation enforced by ASIC.
Act in Your Best Interests
Under s.158LA of the NCCP Act 2009, we are legally required to act in your best interests when providing credit assistance. Your financial outcome always comes before ours.
Investigate Your Circumstances
We must take reasonable steps to understand your financial situation, objectives and requirements before recommending any loan product.
Prioritise Your Interests
Where a conflict exists between your interests and ours — including any commission we may receive — we must prioritise your interests. We disclose all commissions in our Credit Guide.
Suitable Loan Recommendation
We only recommend loans that are not unsuitable for you. This means the loan must meet your needs and you must be able to meet repayments without substantial hardship.
Full Disclosure
We provide a Credit Guide and Credit Proposal Disclosure Document before proceeding. These documents set out our fees, commissions, and how we select lenders.
Ongoing Obligation
Our Best Interests Duty applies throughout the entire credit assistance process — not just at the point of recommendation. We remain accountable at every stage.

What we stand for
These aren't posters on our wall. They're the principles that shape every client interaction and every lending recommendation we make.
Client First. Always.
Every recommendation we make is based on what's genuinely best for you — not what earns us the highest commission. It's a simple principle that most of the industry still struggles with.
Radical Transparency
We explain every fee, every comparison rate, every trade-off. If a deal isn't right for you, we'll tell you. No jargon, no small print surprises — just straight talk.
Smarter Lending
We combine human expertise with technology like Fairbanks Intelligence to ensure our clients are never paying more than they should. Rate monitoring doesn't stop at settlement.
Relationships Over Transactions
Our average client has been with us for 6+ years. We're there for your first home, your investment property, your refinance, and your eventual payoff celebration.
Excellence in Execution
Speed and accuracy matter when you're buying a home. We target 48-hour pre-approvals, 5-day unconditional approval, and proactive communication every step of the way.
Community Commitment
We live and work in the same communities as our clients. Fairbanks supports the First Home Buyer Assistance Program and sponsors financial literacy workshops across Queensland.
